The value assessment of cultural heritage in the 21st century be itself at an important crossroad with regard to post-industrial society and its artistic productions. The contemporary artwork emerging from the network poses important questions in terms of valorization and conservation criteria, especially regarding world heritage as this artwork represents humanity’s feelings and values at a specific moment of its history. Net.Art artwork, created at the end of the 20th century, is characterized for being participative and ephemeral. It forms part of the history of art, representing the esthetical ideas of a cyberspace society and opens up new connections. This investigation analyzes the criteria employed for the valorization of cultural heritage, studies their application to Net.Art artwork as cultural heritage and analyzes the possible approaches and strategies that may contribute to their safekeeping.

La valoración del patrimonio cultural en el siglo XXI se encuentra en una importante disyuntiva, frente a la sociedad postindustrial y sus producciones artísticas. Las obras del arte contemporáneas que surgen desde la red generan grandes interrogantes en cuanto a los criterios de valoración y conservación, especialmente al hablar del patrimonio mundial, pues son obras que representan el sentir y los valores de la humanidad en un determinado momento de su historia. Las obras del Net.Art fueron creadas a finales del siglo XX, con un carácter participativo y efímero. Estas forman parte de la historia del arte y representan las ideas estéticas de una sociedad del ciberespacio y abre nuevas conexiones. Esta investigación analiza los criterios empleados para la valoración de bienes patrimoniales, estudia su aplicación a las obras de Net.Art como patrimonio cultural y analiza los posibles enfoques y estrategias que podrían contribuir a su resguardo.
